Mitzi is from Austin, Texas, and has worked in youth programming at the YMCA of Austin, Boys and Girls Club, City of Austin, the Salvation Army, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas for over 20 years. She graduated with a BS in Human Development and Family Sciences from the University of Texas. During her undergraduate coursework, Mitzi enjoyed learning about the developmental stages of children and pursued a career that would enable her to work with youth.
Helping youth learn new skills, develop confidence, and have another positive person in their lives has been important to her, which is why she was excited to join the Friends of the Children - SW Washington Team as the Program Director. She is excited about working with the Friends of the Children’s families, staff team, and becoming part of the South Washington Community.
During her spare time, she and her partner enjoy staying active by cycling, running, hiking, and spending time outdoors with family, friends, and especially their dogs, Bella and Brody, as well as her cat, Brooklyn. She is also an avid sports fan with a strong affection for the Texas Longhorns, Buffalo Bills, New York Yankees, New York Liberty, and Brooklyn Nets.
