Garrett is a recent transplant to the area from his native San Diego, where he grew up yo-yoing between the beach and the mountains. Always interested in human cognition, he studied Linguistics, Sociology, and Psychology at San Diego State University, graduating first with a bachelor’s and then a master’s degree in Linguistics. Garrett got started in his career with after school enrichment programs, and has since worked as a tutor, grader, teaching assistant, substitute teacher, and college advisor. As a survivor of childhood trauma, he is passionate about ensuring that children have access to the tools and opportunities they need to succeed.
When he isn’t brushing mud off his hiking shoes or sweeping beach sand out of his car, Garrett can be found spending time with his partner and their two dogs, exploring the area and trying new foods, playing video games and Dungeons and Dragons, or probably picking up a third new hobby this week.
